- 4 tbsp. unsweetened cacao powder
- three cups coconut milk, whole milk or fifty percent and fifty percent
- one tsp. vanilla extract
- ½ tsp. floor cinnamon
- two-three tbsp. sugar (depending on how sweet you like it)
- ¼ tsp. sea salt
- Optional: Whipped Cream, Cacao Nibs, Orange Zest
Step one: Simmer
Bring milk, cacao powder, vanilla extract, cinnamon, sugar, and salt to a simmer in a medium saucepan above medium-significant heat. Make absolutely sure it does not scorch. Whisk until mixture is smooth and creamy, and the chocolate and sugar have dissolved.
Step two: Provide
Divide hot chocolate among four mugs. Optional: Top with whipped cream, garnish with cacao nibs and orange zest. Provide and enjoy!
*Be aware: You can make this an “adult” hot chocolate by adding three oz. of bourbon or vodka right after you take out the hot chocolate mixture from heat.
